Two of my three kids were born in the mid-1990s. America – the country that defeated the two most modern and powerful military forces in history, across the entire planet, on land, sea and air, in 3-1/2 years – has been in ground combat with illiterate, unorganized, untrained, ill-equipped savages for nearly their entire lives. They have no recollection of an America not at war.
This is shameful.
My dad was born in 1912, raised a Quaker, and fought in the Pacific Theater of WW2. Why? He was an American. My mom was born in 1930, orphaned at 5, raised […]
Interesting article about the beginnings of a more mature outlook on combat operations in S Asia by the Trump administration.
- The Geneva Conventions and the “Laws of War”, which we use to set our Rules of Engagement, were designed BY Europeans FOR wars AMONG Europeans. No one else ever has paid them any attention.
- Those demanding limiting the American military to the above are demanding monocultural constraints on Western forces when engaging non-Western “multicultural” enemies who do not recognize Western constraints. This is an absurdity.
- “Multiculturalists” demanding Western rules of war against non-Westerners are projecting Western morals onto non-Western
The military has an agenda which is not the same as the nation’s, yet since Kuwait, in some psychological quest to put Vietnam behind us, we Boomers are turning too far toward it.
The entire Right and half the Center is good with maximizing the presence of 4-stars in a civilian administration. Why? They have hammers – every single problem is going to be a nail. Not a Marshall among them. Not an Eisenhower. Not a Pershing. Just a buncha wannabe Bradleys who want to fight until it gets too hard […]
If we were serious about the debt, we’d stop fighting dumb wars we don’t even try to win. One policy re-adoption could save a majority proportion of half-a-trillion dollars annually ($585B in FY2016), thousands of lives of our soldiers, tens of thousands of lives of our opponents, and make the entire world a safer place.
Shouldn’t that be the goal of our defense policy?
We don’t need to continue to enrich Lockheed and others building toys we won’t use to win combat in which we shouldn’t be involved. And if we won’t use them to win, what […]
When one takes the long look of history, two errors of Western Civilization stand out above all others.
The first, US entry into WW1, birthed the USSR, Weimar Republic, NAZIs, WW2 ETO, Red China, Cold War, Korea & Vietnam, and Left hundreds of millions dead.
The second, Kuwait, with a familial epilogue of Afghanistan & Iraq, destroyed S Asia & the Middle East, created the largest immigration outside of war in human history and is in the process of destroying European civilization and attacking America.
Both of these mistakes were by individuals insisting on defining the roles of other nations […]
