In this OpEd the WSJ published a rant about Obama’s rhtetoric, concluding that, ”A more cool-headed assessment of the economy’s woes might produce better policies.”

“Better” as in ‘better for Americans, their families and their future’? Or “better” as in ‘turning America into a socialist economy and political system reined over by illiberal Democrats for generations to come’? 

The author does not say.

For the sake of space, I show only every five years, with the exception of 2003-2008, as they are current.

1972-2005 are ACTUALS from various sources such as the CIA Factbook, IRS and Census.

2006-2008 are ESTIMATES from these same sources.

2008–2040 are PROJECTIONS based on the historical average increases in each category 1972-2005. They do NOT include whatever “stimulus” Pelosi, Reid and Obama will deliver unto us.

In 2040 I dumped in the entire unfunded $40T of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. I[…]

Geithner, Insanity and the GOP

President Elect Obama has proposed Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary. 

But Geithner didn’t pay Social Security or Medicare taxes for several years, despite constant reminders from his employers, the IMF. 

Now, you or I would go to jail for this. 

But not Geithner. He’s “contrite” and made an “honest mistake.”

Help me out here. He is a financial professional about to take over Treasury, and it’s an “honest mistake” when he fails to pay his taxes?

But it gets better.

Sen Hatch – a REPUBLICAN, once the party of law and order – says he’ll “still support him… he’s a competent guy.”

This article in the Atlantic today posits issues in a naval war with Iran. While an interesting article in which Kaplan discusses asymmetrical naval warfare in a rather mundane way (certainly no new insights are provided), the premise is absurd.
