So it looks like Kim Dum Idiot is aching for war.
Here are my thoughts, FWIW. Anyone able & willing to educate me is welcome to give it a shot. But if all you want to tell me is what we CAN’T do as we sacrifice tens of thousands of our irreplaceable kids, and another few trillion dollars, on a peninsula able to defend itself, in a war 10,000 miles away that we will refuse to win… I’d say you have your work cut out for you.
Given that in conventional war the side with the most artillery tubes wins, that the Norks have thousands of tubes within range of Seoul, that many of these are at the ends of tunnels that will empty into South Korea tens of thousands of infantry in the first hours of any conventional engagement – and that the headlines & footage will be SO bad that the calls for immediate departure will be louder than an M1A1 main gun, I see no way to defeat North Korea, or to do so without turning Seoul into a charred wasteland. Putting the Vietnam story into steroids: Destroy the country to save the country.
The West, through 60 years of utterly feckless “Defense” policy in which we planned on and convinced ourselves (and our unfortunate allies) that our dominance was such that no one would dare attack us (said “dominance” of physical force, not willpower, which is what wins wars), even though that mentality of dominance has caused us to lose, tie or make permanent every war we have fought since 1945 – now is drinking its own Kool-Aid, enriching only the Military-Industrial Complex against which Ike warned (the last president who knew war), and killing our kids for nothing, and our opponent’s kids – I guess to destroy the human capital they’d need to rebuild.
Can we “win” vs North Korea? How?
We can’t “win” vs illiterate, untrained, ill-equipped ragheads with knee mortars and .30-cal assault rifles, against whom we have been sending our kids for four times the length of WW2 – in which we defeated utterly the two most modern military forces across the entire planet in 3.5 years.
Four issues of warfare have been proved since 1945:
- America will ONLY fight wars of attrition, rejecting weapons making any war OTHER THAN a war of attrition; and America cannot win a war of attrition
- Only the Rules Of Engagement we used in WW2 can defeat an ideological foe – no ideological foe ever will be defeated in cost-benefit warfare, which is the only kind we any more are willing to “fight;” and we will reject those Rules Of Engagement
- Nuclear proliferation is the only way to ensure one’s nation never is attacked and, lacking that proliferation may well ensure one’s nation being gobbled up by a hungry neighbor… I’m talking to YOU, Ukraine. And soon, YOU, the geography soon to be formerly known as the Republic of Korea.
- Americans will continue to send their irreplaceable kids off to die in wars the politicians we vote into office will demand we fight but refuse to win. And we’ll see more and more commercials and street flags and “Hometown Hero” nonsense that somehow sending our kids 10,000 miles away – again – to die in combat we refuse to win – again – for a country unwilling to defend itself is “patriotic”.
North Korea cannot be defeated conventionally. Our politicians have ensured that by letting them get nukes. Worry about a fallout cloud over Japan? What China will say? That’s defeatism. So what? If we go massively conventional, North Korea will go nuclear: Fallout. If North Korea goes nuclear, we will, too: Fallout (or we’ll have our own little revolution here at home).
North Korea KNOWS we will not go nuclear… and they KNOW they cannot be defeated conventionally. So… guess what’s gonna happen? Dover AFB is going to get REALLY busy.
China? So we are supposed to kill tens of thousands of our kids so as not to annoy China? No. Will China start WW3 by nuking the US if we nuke Pyongyang? No. Am I sure? No. Am I willing to make that bet? What is the alternative – worse and worse Great Power relations until we just roll over and die? I’d rather die fighting, thank you very much; it’s how the West was built – and it beats hell out of surrender to communists (or muslims).
Look – this is S. Korea’s and Japan’s problem, not ours. Both those nations have economies and technologies capable of creating nuclear weapons. Nukes are the ONLY way any of us can defeat – as in DEFEAT – North Korea. Guess who knows that? North Korea. (And if you like summer re-runs, just wait a few years and you’ll be able to watch to Iran doing the same thing.)
If South Korea & Japan refuse to defend themselves, if they don’t think their own nations are worthy of being defended… WHY SHOULD WE?
Why should we sacrifice OUR kids to THEIR laziness?
One doesn’t put limits on war and expect to win. War is about winning. If that doesn’t interest you – don’t go, and don’t vote for politicians who will demand you send YOUR kids to die in wars THEY start and refuse to win.
Either the West grows a pair and again starts defeating its enemies, or the West will die.
It is that simple. It is folly to think otherwise.
