First off: CNN was disgraceful. All they did was to seek out responses to insults, not specifics of policy. Embarrassing.
Where I am now on the GOP field.
Carson is too nice a guy. I want an sob in the White House, not someone who’s gonna get along with everyone. Though I was impressed with his performance @ Heritage. Maybe I’m wrong. But with his 2nd Amendment stance (situational; what is it with people who just don’t grasp the Constitution?) he isn’t my top choice.
My preference now:
I know many already have dismissed Rand, and that the smart money says he’s toast. But he did well, the youth & Ron vote (& money) are heading his way. I think they’ll continue as he sticks to libertarian stuff & quits trying to be a RINO, which is what he did at the debate to good credit. I think he’ll have the money to stick around and the battle may swing his way if he’s smart enough to keep pushing in a libertarian direction.
Be nice if he also started making the point that, who cares if it’s Russia that kills Isis? Why send our kids back there – FOR THE THIRD TIME?!?
Go read my blog from yesterday: that’s the major reason I’m still a Rand guy, but I also think he’ll actually follow the Constitution. The others may go with the Obama precedent and just rule. BS. Per my linked post (above), I think the GOP cannot get past the Cold War. If Russia will annihilate ISIS why do I care? We allied with Stalin to kill Hitler. Isis is worse.
Cruz v Carly is a tough call. Diff for me is that I know Cruz will do what he says – always has. I know he’ll kick Feinstein’s ass on 2A. I know he’ll do solid SCOTUS picks. I THINK Carly will, but I KNOW Cruz will. But can Cruz get the women’s vote the way Carly will? Dunno.
At the same time, if they put Carly v Hillary debates on PPV it’d retire the national debt. I would LOVE to see Carly wipe the floor with Hillary. And she would. Hillary would be a deer spotlighted from a hide and never know what hit her. She is afraid of debating other DEMOCRATS, she’d be SHAKING WITH TERROR at the idea of walking out on stage to face Carly, her coronation crumbling beneath her. And Carly would know it; it would be pathetic – but fun!
Those two probably are a tie for me.
Anyway – those three I will vote for. I will NOT vote for Bush, Rubio, Christie, who are the only others I see (MAYBE Carson) still around by Super Tuesday.
Trump’s balloon started leaking with that sophomoric comment re: Rand, and it popped when Carly told him “every woman in America…” He’s done. He’ll stick around for a bit cuz of his ego, but once he tracks downward he’ll quit before he’ll allow himself to lose. I think he’ll be gone by year-end.
Folks’ll start dropping fast now: Pataki, Santorum are done. Same w Walker. Huckabee has his choir but is sticking around cuz – what else is he gonna do? Go play golf? Christie did well, but I think the GOP is past him, his sell-by expired in 2012; he’s over. Kasich is everything that’s wrong w DC: spent a career there & little changed aside from one balanced budget. Big-Gov republican. Carson got good response @ Heritage. He’ll be in til the end I think. Not sure why but maybe he’s a helluva lot tougher than he seems. I’ll have to start paying more attention to him, but his 2A stance probably enough that I won’t vote for him.
I am never again holding my nose & voting for the Republican. If we nominate another establishment GOP loser I’ll vote Libertarian.
Graham is done. Yeah he did great at the kid’s table. But he’s polling <2% in his home state; just don’t see donors sticking with him. He’s the worst kind of republican and I wish he’d just join hands with the Arizona loser & GO AWAY.
Jindahl? Did great in the early debate. Think he’ll move up in the next one as some of those folks drop. Can he overcome that disastrous SOTU response that put his career on life-support? Has it been long enough? Maybe. And he sure kicked ass on the est GOP.
