Look around. From their arrival in N. America to 1964, African Americans worked to keep their families intact – even through the unimaginable trauma of one’s children being sold out from their under parents, never to be seen again. From the Civil War forward, they worked and risked all to raise their standard of living, to behave as society in general behaved in order to fit in, quite often working harder than Whites to achieve recognition of their humanity and ability.
African Americans started farther behind other immigrant races in that they came here involuntarily, as did few other immigrants, and they unquestionably were treated far worse than any other immigrants. Other immigrants were refused jobs, hounded out of towns, and individuals came to America under indentured servitude and so with little freedom.
But African Americans – legally – were denied an education, and beaten, branded, murdered, lynched, raped just for who they were.
They were told by an American president: “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,” and, “Even when you cease to be slaves, you are yet far removed from being placed on an equality with the white race … not a single man of your race is made the equal of a single man of ours.” (Lincoln)
(If revisionists want to start rethinking history and tearing apart institutions, a good solid look at Lincoln is in order.)
Even through this – African Americans succeeded: Once freed from slavery they put it behind them and began busting their butts to improve their situation – and their future.
And it worked.
African Americans took advantage of the education prohibited them as slaves, and moved forward.
They worked – and fought – against racism, and made real progress.
They demanded their children learn in school, as they knew that only an education can raise the standard of living of a person, a family and a community over time.
And it worked: African Americans moved into the Middle Class at an accelerating rate.
Then in 1964 Democrats decided that African Americans couldn’t make it on their own, could no longer be held to normal standards of societal behavior, that literacy and education no longer were important. That African Americans, who had survived centuries of brutal slavery – often keeping intact both their families and their faith in freedom one day, whose forebears had endured what no modern White man or family had endured – somehow no longer could compete with Whites on their own. And Democrats did this for their votes. “Disgusting” is too nice a word.
And the rate of African American social mobility flat-lined and then began to drop.
LBJ and his fellow racist Democrats concocted welfare – a scheme to destroy what African Americans had managed to keep intact across oceans on slave ships, through being sold down the River, through centuries of whipping and branding and raping and beating and lynching: The African American family. From 14% out of wedlock births in the 1960s to 74% today, Democrats have succeeded in destroying what centuries of slavery could not.
And the results are filling-up prisons, burning-down African American businesses, churning out generations of illiterate human beings (yes, “A mind is a “terrible thing to waste”) – and nobody cares.
(To “care” is binary: one either cares enough to fix a problem, or one does not care, and is uselessly wringing his hands, accomplishing nothing.)
Convinced by Progressive Democrats that not receiving an unearned salary (essentially, room & board & an allowance) from the government means the nation has decided that they must starve, African Americans have rejected the work and education that led to their hard-earned successes from 1865, and have chosen to accept infantilization by Liberals. African Americans have chosen to exchange their freedom, their liberty, the education of their children – their futures… for the votes that keep the unearned bread & circuses coming.
Think of that for a moment: These are people whose ancestors survived chattel slavery that ended only 150 years ago (and serious Human Right violations that finally were written out of the legal code in 1964), and have succeeded in spite of it – and now are accepting, even demanding, that they are less able to compete than Whites who have not endured anything close in millennia. They are demanding to be fed, clothed and housed by people who have not survived what they have. How utterly insane is that?
And it worked.
It isn’t as thought this could surprise anyone paying attention. Liberal scholar and Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), wrote presciently in 1965 that welfare would destroy the African American family.
But White Liberal Democrats didn’t care; the power bought with African American votes is far more important to Democrats than the lives, education and future of African Americans themselves.
And Liberals remain indifferent today – half-a-century later.
Enslaved by Progressive policies that include the soft bigotry of low expectations, the worst schools, the worst economic prospects, the worst employment, the worst future, African Americans continue to trade their votes for room & board. Receiving nothing but a monthly check from Democrats – with the attached strings of continued poverty, illiteracy and unemployment – African Americans continue to accept those strings and cash that check, giving Democrats their vote, unquestioningly.
Rather than working and fighting to get into the Middle Class, African Americans are rioting – and voting – to stay where they are: In bondage to a welfare state.
African Americans are more enslaved today than they were in 1860, and they care less. In fact, one can fairly make the comment that today’s enslavement is far worse as it is voluntary.
What is the difference between now and 1860?
Under slavery, African Americans earned what they weren’t given.
Under Progressivism, African Americans are given what they haven’t earned.
Under slavery African Americans fought to be free, to earn their own way, to keep their families intact. Many risked whippings, beatings and worse to become literate.
Under Progressivism, African Americans fight to be kept by the State, refuse to earn their own way, reject the entire concept of “family” that kept them together even through slavery, reject societal standards of behavior. And they accept absolute crap masquerading as education… as long as they get their room & board & allowance.
The notion that Liberals care about African Americans would be laughable – if African Americans weren’t participating in the tragedy of their own destruction, driving themselves down a pathway of slavery indistinct from the antebellum South.
Sure – The Man isn’t whipping or beating then anymore. Is killing themselves at higher rates than America loses men in combat a real difference? Or just more evidence of voluntary slavery – including becoming their own overseer?
If African Americans are not today enslaved to an always-failing Progressive ideology, then “slavery” has no meaning.
African Americans voluntarily sacrifice their freedom, their responsibility, their children to an ideology that is anathema to their education, their liberty and their future; to an ideology that rejects their humanity as long as they vote the right way.
To an ideology and politicians and union bosses that keep them illiterate, jobless and with no prospects for a better future… in exchange for their votes. How utterly demeaning is that?
You’d be rioting, too, if the government were doing that to you. But African Americans are voting for it – and demanding more.
Only African Americans can fix their problems – and it is time for them to accept responsibility for doing so. We will know they are serious when they take a look at what Progressives have done to them – and begin voting for, instead of against, their own futures.
Looking at Ferguson, Baltimore, Sharpton, Farrakhan, Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, Obama, Planned Parenthood (functioning on government tax receipts), government K-12, and the Progressive social and economic policies pursued by both GOP and DNC, one can make an honest observation:
If we fought the Civil War to free African Americans, we failed utterly.
We may as well repeal the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, and call things by their right name.
