Two Grand Juries this week report conclusions on a Black man dying at the hands of police.
Was Brown a legit shooting? Sure seems the case. Even the witnesses have testified he tried to grab Wilson’s gun, ran away and then charged back. Dude was 6’4″, 294# and inarguably violent and lawless – just look at his robbery video. I’d venture that ANYONE with a gun would have shot a head-down, charging Brown, regardless of race.
Was the killing of Garner legit? Hard to see how it possibly could have been, regardless of the Grand Jury and columnists on the Right.
This GJ is EXACTLY why we get Fergusons. It is EXACTLY why Blacks feel oppressed.
The cop, Pantaleo, put a hold on a nonviolent offender & took him down. ME says he didn’t die of asphyxiation.
He was not being violent, so what was the rationale for ANY hold? None.
Whether he died from asthma-induced problems exacerbated by the hold, or from low blood pressure or because he fell over and his weight compressed his chest and had asthma, he died at the hands of a cop who had no business putting a hold on him in the first place.
Turning to existing conditions for death – and rejecting first cause (the hold) allows any cop to put a hold on any citizen – even for a traffic violation, or a pedestrian jaywalking.
… Do YOU have asthma…?
Conservatives are asking of Congress right now, if Obama is allowed to get away with EO on Immigration, what’s to stop next pres from EOing taxes? Same logic and principle applies here.
This guy did nothing to warrant a hold and died BECAUSE of that hold. There is just NO WAY the cop is NOT responsible. And with even WSJ & NRO publishing columns and OpEds that the Right must get over their love affair with cops who have become overmilitarized, one would hope columnists like Shapiro would pay attention to said overmilitarization.
Too many cops – not all, but certainly more than at any time in my lifetime, which includes protests against Vietnam – are out of control.
Was the Ferguson cop guility? Nope.
Was the NY cop guility? As sin.
