Just in case anyone is wondering, there is ONLY one way to end the fiscal lunacy of America re: Entitlements, ensuring our children have a future as other than vassals of a Democrat-ruled Totalitarian Welfare State.
Term limits won’t do it. Balanced budget Amendments won’t do it.
In the first case we’ll just get a bureaucrat-centered government with unelected bastards instead of elected-forever bastards running our lives.
In the second case, they’ll always make off-the-books exceptions (example: CA must have a balanced budget; we’re $1T in debt. Figure THAT out…).
Unless parasites are prevented from voting, they will ALWAYS vote to take more from the host.
Look at CA: 1/10 of the national population, 1/3 of that national welfare caseload. Want to know why we recently voted to lower our own standard of living, I mean to raise our taxes? When the moochers & looters outnumber the producers in the voting booth, the Republic is OVER.
We are nearly there as a nation – we’re ALREADY there in CA.
If you’re going to work toward an Art-V convention or legislation to Amend the Constitution, the ONLY one that will work to FIX the problem, rather than just ameliorate it and kick that can down the road, is to PROHIBIT voting by ANYONE drawing ANY INCOME from the government: Govt workers, welfare moochers, Social Security recipients, etc.
The ONLY way.
And don’t go all postal over my inclusion of Social Security recipients: THEY are the ones who voted America IN TO THIS MESS; we don’t need their input on how to get OUT of it as they continue to draw their checks from MY CHILDREN. SS is NOT a pension. It IS a ponzi scheme. Frankly, NO ONE who didn’t have children ought to receive a nickel from it.
As in nearly everything, the Founders had most of the franchise correct: A voter franchise LIMITED to those who contributed TO the government. Yes, they screwed-up slavery and gender issues, but when viewed with the discipline of historical context, this is understandable – wrong, but understandable.
But limiting the franchise to PRODUCERS was absolutely correct – and a requirement if we are to continue to be free.
