The incoming chairwoman of the Senate Budget Committee, Patty Murray (D), has confirmed she “cannot commit to” passing a budget this year. That’ll make four years in a row, all under what Democrats laughingly call “Leadership” in which the Senate Dems have violated the law.
The Congressional Budget Act of 1974 requires a budget by April 15 of each year.
The law doesn’t “suggest” a budget.
It doesn’t “recommend” a budget.
It REQUIRES a budget.
My reaction is below. What’s yours?
Patty: I can’t commit to paying my taxes this year. Is that a problem for you? I mean, I know it’s the law and everything, but, hey, it’s the law for the Senate to pass a budget, too. Because you don’t follow the law I don’t see any need for me to do so. SCOTUS long ago held against selective enforcement/prosecution, right?
So you solons in charge of the law don’t have to follow it? Neither do I.
So – US Senate? Piss off.
Besides – you don’t really need my taxes anyway; you can just print all the money you need. Why don’t you just have Uncle Ben run the presses to feed the moochers and the idiots who voted for you, and let the rest of us keep the money we EARN? Sound fair?
And OBTW, while we are on the subject? Does any of the below sounds in any way at all familiar to you?
