So here’s a scary observation.
I ran the numbers and graphed Rasmussen’s running average of HRH Obama’s popularity among likely voters against the GOP debate schedule. And you know what? The debates most-liked by the GOP base are helping Obama.
After the 8/11 Fox debate, his approval index stayed flat at -22.
After the 9/5 S. Carolina debate, he bumped-up a point, from -20 to -19.
After the 9/7 MSNBC debate, he stayed flat for a day and then dropped two the following day, from -22 to -24.
After the 9/12 CNN Debate, he went up three over the next couple of days, from -20 to -17.
After the 9/22 Fox debate, again he went up, from -18 to -16.
Yes, other things control HRH’s approval, and, no, lots of the nation isn’t watching this theater. But it is interesting to see that the debates most approved by the GOP base most likely watching (Fox, CNN with Wolf, which seemed fairly balanced), may be driving HRH Obama’s approval higher as they expose the problematic GOP contenders, and the debates the GOP base dislikes the most (MSNBC) may be driving-down HRH’s approval. Could be that the MSNBC guys are so deep-in-the-tank that they just generally get everyone watching pissed-off at the MSM and the Dem party and HRH for obvious in-the-tank-reasons, that HRH loses ground because of that, while the Fox and CNN/Blitzer debates are showcasing the candidates more objectively – and the voters don’t like what they see?
Maybe we need MORE MSNBC debates?
(I’d post the graph I made but WordPress seems unable to upload media from your computer at this time, perhaps having to do with they don’t seem to support the current version of Flash… but since they have no tech support…. )
