Diplomacy 101(A)

In order to understand many of the problems in the world today one must come to grips with the fact that “Liberal” “Diplomacy” is a contradiction in terms.

(I use quotes around “liberals” of today because they are actually the opposite of classical liberalism, which championed the individual against the State. “Liberals” today are exactly the opposite of that, championing the State at the expense of the individual. But they are too badly-educated to understand this.)

Look at the post-1968 world of “Liberals.” “Liberals” don’t believe in consequences. Really. How many gun control laws have they passed? Do they ever, you know, actually send someone off to be executed for multiple murders with guns? No. He had a poor childhood. When some wife whacks hubby, do they want her executed? Nope. He was probably mean. If a bad guy kills a cop… the bad guy probably had a mean dad. If a woman kills her children? Post-something-or-other syndrome, depression, something. Try and find a movie from Liberal-Land in which the bad guy is NOT held-up as some kind of saint wrongly convicted. Of course his victim remains dead, lives remain ruined, children remain orphans… But the murderer? Probably some kind of Nobel or Pulitzer prize winner waiting to be discovered. The complete lack of consequences for actions is pretty much foundational in Liberalism today.

This, of course, was NOT the case when there were adults in the Dem party – like, you know, FDR (waged real war), Truman (nuked the enemy rather than lose a million more lives). That was when Democrats still believed in consequences. No more.

What is diplomacy? Talk backed-up by a believable threat of force. “Liberals” don’t DO force. They don’t BELIEVE in consequences.

The rest of the world gets this. Only American and European Leftists believe the nonsense they are spouting – no one else does.

You think Ahmadinejad would act as he does if there were a credible threat of force from an Administration whose mouth is stuck in a loop of, “Iran having a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.” Of course not. He KNOWS – as does the entire world outside the Western Socialist parties – that this administration has no teeth, that no consequences will ensue from the development and testing of a nuke in Iran. Or the development of it in Iran and the testing of it on Jerusalem.

You think Pakistan would act as it does today if an adult American president told them, look, you continue to fund and arm those killing Americans and we WILL kill you? Not a chance.

Everyone in the world now understands this. Israel likely will provide consequences to Iran, but they risk an enormous backlash from those nations who will have bloviated on the unacceptability of an Iranian nuke… until Iran has one.

Expecting a “liberal” to be successful in diplomacy in the current world is fantasy. They don’t believe in consequences. Absent the threat of consequences there can BE no successful diplomacy.

And “Liberals” and Progressives actually BELIEVE that this complete lack of consequences will result in a freer, more fair world. How appallingly atrocious was THEIR education?

About Alex Scipio

About Alex Scipio: Alex moved out of the People's Republic of California to the Free State of Arizona, finally tiring of the lack of the Bill of Rights, the overgrown idiocracy, and the catering to non-Americans & welfare recipients. He still wonders how America got from Truman, Eisenhower, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan to the Liberal and Conservative extremes so badly managing America today. And, yes, islam DOES need to be annihilated. And doing what he can to get folks away from the extremes of political life.

The biggest downside to reading your posts is I normally agree completely with what you say … nothing to “get my dander up”. I am sort of conservative, living in rural Georgia, and am throughly disgusted with the radical options both the right and left present us. I frequently link your posts to acquaintances in emails. I am aged 68 and feel that if we, those within 10 years each side of me, had paid more attention to our politics as we aged perhaps we would not be in the situation we are in today. Keep writing and good luck.
