Why Democrats are Going Down in November

Thursday, September 30th, 2010 under Domestic, Politics

This is an excellent column today in JWR. You should take a couple of minutes to read it. It isn’t long.

To whet your appetite, the final two paragraphs:

There you have it. Democratic control for four years in Congress, and two in the White House has been exactly what many predicted: an ideologically-driven disaster of epic proportions. For years, progressives obfuscated their true intentions, because even they knew most Americans couldn’t stomach them. The elections of 2006 and 2008 changed everything. Progressives bought into their own hype, believing they had pulled off a multi-generational transformation of the American mindset. As a result, they[…]

“Progressives” Don’t Believe Their Policies Are Failing

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 under Domestic, Education, Politics

Complaints about the results of the policies of our elected Democrat majority representatives - and Democrat president are increasing. Some people continue to believe that the results of their policies are “mistakes” a result of “incompetence” and that these policies are “misguided” in that they are not achieving their desired effect: A more prosperous nation.

People need to begin to realize that the results of these policies are EXACTLY what the “Progressives” wanted them to be. The policies are “misguided” only from the standpoint of those seeking a better life for their children.

The “misguided” ones are those believing that “Liberals” and[…]

Kris Kristofferson: Parasite

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 under Domestic, Miscellaneous

This past weekend my wife and I attended a Kristofferson concert.

Yeah, he’s a lefty, but he’s also an amazing poet. His songs capture much. Sunday Morning Coming Down, Bobby McGee, Help Me Make it Through the Night.

The crowd was as suspected - Older Boomers and a few on either side of the generation who grew-up listening to Janis Joplin, Kristofferson and others who covered his songs.  (WIllie Nelson does the best of which I am aware.)

But he couldn’t sing. His delivery had zero energy. Past his prime he ended lines on a downward minor chord rather than the higher notes[…]

Not Hyperbole: Boomers’ $13T Spent on FAILED Social Welfare Programs - and the Report to Prove it.

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 under Baby Boomers, Domestic, Politics

I have posted many times here that the Baby Boomers, having inherited a $400B national debt, and having invented nothing new, having won no real wars, having managed only to spend us in to the ground on failed social welfare programs, turned that $400B debt into one of $13T.

The debt’s pretty flat from 1945 - 1972, when Boomers first began running for office. Since then it’s increased enormously.

But - BUT - is it fair to blame the entire $13T on failed social welfare programs, as I constantly do?

Well, here’s a report that, yes, it is.

What has been the purpose of these[…]

A Great Alternative to A Body Scan at Airports

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 under Foreign Policy and International, War and Terrorism

The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners at the airports. They have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

No more waiting in long lines; no more removing your shoes, belt, jacket, hat, watch, cell phone, coins, laptop….

No false positives - if you don’t have any explosives on you, you walk on out. If you do, you get blown-up by YOUR OWN explosives.

No evidentiary issues. No slick lawyer getting you off. No racial profiling.

This[…]

2012: How Hillary re-makes the Political Landscape while Losing

Monday, September 20th, 2010 under Domestic, Politics

Speculation recently began in the blogosphere re: 2012 and the GOP noms. Powerline put Palin as the front-runner, for example. (I disagree with that and address it below; I think Christie will run and demolish the Left, BTW.)

RedState today makes a blithe assumption that Obama will be the Dem nom. I doubt this, too.

Nomination fights when an incumbent is on the ballot are not all that unusual, and the hammering Obama and the Dems are taking points toward a serious challenge to Obama from within his own party. He certainly has lost the middle, without which not only can he not win,[…]
