Discharge Petition on Repeal of Obamacare: 202-225-2815

You know how in horror movies the monster always arises three times before finally being killed?

Well, Obamacare was thought dead last Fall. Then with the election of Scott Brown it was thought dead again. Then it arose from the dead and through lies, deceit and legislative maneuvering was rammed down our throats.

BUT… it turns out that this third life MAY be its final end. It turns out that not only does there remain a method to KILL IT, but that this procedure already is underway.

There is a thing called a “discharge petition.”

From RedState:

In a nutshell, a congressman can write a bill and, when the leaders in charge of the House refuse to do anything with it, the congressman can file a discharge petition. The petition, if personally signed by 218 congressmen, forces the House Speaker to put the matter up for a vote by the House.

Why is this important?

Well, every Republican in the House of Representatives and a bunch of Democrats say if a vote were held tomorrow, they would vote to repeal Obamacare. In fact, if you add up all the Blue Dogs, the Republicans, and the Democrats now scrambling for political cover saying they’d vote to repeal, you arrive at the magic number of 218, which also happens to be the total number of votes needed to pass a piece of legislation in the House of Representatives.

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) has filed a discharge petition on legislation he has drafted to repeal Obamacare. He needs 218 signatures.

Well…. Congressman Pence already has signed. Minority Leader John Boehner will be signing this week (though I don’t get the fanfare – just SIGN IT, John, why take a week to do so?).

We need Eric Cantor, Republican Whip, to sign it, as well. His number of 202-225-2815. Please call him and ask him to do so. I have.

Then call YOUR representative. You can check HERE to see if your Rep already has signed. Mine (R) hasn’t; I’ve called and recommended it. You can find your Representative’s telephone number here.

Many in politics say one thing and do another. If they say they would today vote against Obamacare, let’s give them the opportunity to do so.

Either the GOP believes in limited government – and so will vote unanimously FOR the discharge petition and unanimously AGAINST Obamacare… or they are the same kind of liars as the Dems and need to be voted-out en masse.

Force the repeal of Obamacare OUT of committee and to the Floor for a vote. Let’s see how our Congress votes on the abomination of Obamacre now that EVERYONE knows how bad it is, and the majority of American want it repealed, which by definition includes many Obama voters….
