NYT is less accurate on Obamacare than on Nonexistent Global Warming

Friday, December 4th, 2009 under Domestic, Healthcare

Here is an amazing set of stories - starting with the New York Times - on Obamacare, why the NYT Pulitzer-wining columnist Nicholas Kristof thinks we need it, etc.

Please read all three links, as that’s the only way to know what the true story is. You won’t get it in Kristof’s original column.

Original column.

Original dissection of the inaccuracies and badly-sourced “journalism” (read the comments from doctors, as well).

Follow-up dissection of lies and nonsense… Once any investigation is done into the origianl story, it just gets worse and worse and worse.

And then once other intelligent journalists (i.e. NOT the NYT) get ahold of it, the Kristof’s[…]

Government and the Media

Friday, December 4th, 2009 under Uncategorized

The Conventional Wisdom is that the newspaper industry is failing due to the internet. Wrong.

Because of this mis-perception, post-operative brain donor Rep Henry Waxman (D, CA - of course), now wants the government to manage the media, help “tweak” its failing business model, etc. Because “quality journalism was essential to U.S. democracy.”

First - if the newspapers and newsweeklies delivered “quality journalism” they wouldn’t be in trouble.

Second - how, exactly, does a news organization managed by the Feds accurately report on the Feds? (They can’t for you Democrats reading this blog). Why will we need a First Amendment if the government[…]

Media Bias? Naahhh…..

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 under Domestic, Politics

Incredibly there remain people who discount or deny the bias of the mainstream media.

To put the subject to rest, here is Chris Matthews referring to the United States Military Academy as, “The Enemy Camp.”

I guess he thinks the media freed America from Britain, freed the slaves from the Democrat South, freed France and Belgium from Germany in WW1, freed Europe & North Africa from Germany and SE Asia/Pacific from Imperial Japan in WW2, kept Western Europe free from the USSR, kept South Korea free from North Korea and freed Eastern Europe from the USSR.

Given that the US Army is the “enemy[…]

Global Norming Concensus Proves Climate Strange Is Real
December 2nd, 2009 by admin
Using a highly reliable measuring system know as the five senses, human beings in their billions have come to the conclusion, that the only certainty about the weather on planet earth, is that it keeps on changing in very strange ways. Some times hot, sometimes cold, sometimes wet, sometimes dry. This mind blowing discovery that affects all our lives has been dubbed Global Norming. Otherwise know as Climate Strange. What effects this will have on future generations nobody knows, but[…]

Obama in Copenhagen…. will he or won’t he?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 under Climate, Domestic

This is an excellent post in PowerLine, written by Paul Rahe*.

Will Obama, as promised in his inaugural, “restore science to its rightful place”?

Or… not….?

We shall see next week if he is capable of restoring science to where it belongs… or is hostage to a view of Climate Change held by the UN, the EU, the American Left… but no thinking people.

*Paul A. Rahe holds the Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee Chair in the Western Heritage at Hillsdale College. He is the author, most recently, of the companion studies: Montesquieu and the Logic of Liberty: War, Religion, Commerce, Climate, Terrain, Technology, Uneasiness of[…]

The Global Warming Data Disaster

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 under Climate, Domestic, Politics

A comment about the Global Warming fiasco currently in the news.

Climate Change True Believers remain among us, even after all the evidence of manipulated data, lies, deletions, etc.

And many are talking and writing about the “reality” of climate change (as though the climate has ever NOT been changing), and that the “damage [from global warming] is real.”

So let’s admit that, yes, environmental damage IS real. Whether this “damage” (must “change” be “damage”?) is caused by Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) seems now to be a closed case – it is NOT.

But…

Those who enjoy the outdoors and a clean environment want to[…]

Today’s Military…

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 under Domestic, Foreign Policy and International, Politics, War and Terrorism

Here’s a great article on the military today.

Three SEALs found the Islamist terrorist who masterminded the killing, burning and hanging of the bodies of those civilian contractors from some bridge in Iraq a few years back. The SEALs arrested him.

Now the SEALs are going to be court-martialed because the terrorist got a bruised lip.

Yep – same military that allowed Hassan to shoot 31 people, killing 13… until he was gunned-down on an Army base….. by a CIVILIAN. Probably the MPs, in light of the criticality of “diversity” over safety, as their CO later told us,  were looking for their Arabic-English dictionary to open[…]
