Great Moments in Socialized Medicine

Great Moments in Socialized Medicine

“British health care is little better than that of former Communist countries, which spend a fraction of the billions poured into the NHS”–the National Health Service–reports London’s Daily Mail:

  1. British cancer and heart attack victims are more likely to die than almost anywhere in the developed world
  2. Asthma and diabetes patients are more than three times as likely to end up in hospital as their neighbours in Germany
  3. Life expectancy in Britain–79 years and six months for a man–is far worse than in France, where men expect to live until 81. The deficit is similar for women
  4. Britain performed only marginally[…]

Hurricane Expert Rips Climate Fears

Tuesday, December 8, 2009 8:10 PM

By: Dr. William Gray

The following commentary is from Atmospheric Scientist and Hurricane forecasting specialist Dr. William Gray. Gray is the renowned hurricane forecaster and Emeritus Professor of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University (CSU) and originally published this artiucle on ClimateDepot.com.

Had I not devoted my entire career of more than half a century to the study and forecasting of meteorological and climate events, I would have likely been concerned over the possibility of humans causing serious global climate degradation.

There has been an unrelenting quarter century of one-sided indoctrination of the Western[…]

Obama Makes Declaration Allowing him to Control Economy Without Congressional Input

Monday, December 7th, 2009 under Climate, Domestic, Politics

For those of you still in denial regarding what Obama and the Dems are about, this article.

Obama administration formally declares danger of carbon emissions

By Juliet Eilperin and David Fahrenthold

Washington Post Staff Writer

Monday, December 7, 2009; 2:16 PM

The Obama administration formally declared Monday that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions pose a danger to the public’s health and welfare, a move that lays the groundwork for an economy-wide carbon cap even if Congress fails to enact climate legislation… [emphasis mine]

By making this formal declaration, Obama can take control of our economy - without any input from our representatives - i.e. without the consent of the[…]

Letter to the Editor from a Cuban

From Richmond Times-Dispatch, Monday, July 7, 2008 ~

Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch:

‘Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice.  On June 30,  I  celebrate my independence day, and on July 4,  I celebrate  America’s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

‘On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay.  That I happened to  arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story,  but I digress.

‘I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year.  The election-[…]

In another 30 years?

Monday, December 7th, 2009 under Climate, Domestic

Certainly the current AGW discussion will be as amusing 30 years hence as this is today.

Except that the government then, run by adults then rather than Baby Boomers, saw no need to react to adolescent idiocy of the MSM… and “settled ’science.’”

Our government, on the other hand, full of mal-educated Baby Boomers will, in the next 30 years, have destroyed millinos of jobs and taken billions of dollars from Americans to fight this non-event.

Too bad.

Elections have consequences! All those young folks who voted for the idiot in the White House? No jobs, no money, no future. Keep up the good work!

Interesting Climate Change Interview

Monday, December 7th, 2009 under Climate, Domestic

This is a very interesting read.

It’s from 2000, but a good interview (on PBS, of all places) between a climate scientist and PBS. THe climate scientist is Dr S Fred Singer. He is an atmospheric physicist at George Mason University and founder of the Science and Environmental Policy Project, a think tank on climate and environmental issues.

Some of it’s a bit dated. Singer says, for example, that no one is falsifying data, but on the major topic and impacts and ideas of consensus, it’s pretty good. He talks about models, what if the climate warms, that a warmer world will cause more[…]

Climate-Gate update

Monday, December 7th, 2009 under Climate, Domestic

Just in case you’ve been wondering what’s going on in the US of A re: climate gate….

NASA has had multiple FOIA requests for its climate data. They, too, have refused to honor them. (Wasn’t it the Dems who put together the whole FOIA infrastructure? Just checking.)

Now some folks are getting upset, and threatening to sue NASA under FOIA if it doesn’t release its data by year-end.

This should be interesting. Either NASA has real data supporting the CRU fake data, which means CRU is totally incompetent and can’t even read a thermometer… or NASA, too, has been, uh.. umm…. ahh.. manipulating[…]

Truman vs. Obama

If Truman Had Taken WWII as Seriously as Obama Takes War on Terror

By Doug Patton

December 7, 2009

Imagine for a moment President Harry Truman addressing cadets at West Point on his strategy for finishing World War II:

Good evening. To the United States Corps of Cadets, to the men and women of our Armed Services, and to my fellow Americans: I want to speak to you tonight about our efforts against Japan in the Pacific — the nature of our commitment there, the scope of our interests, and the strategy that my administration will pursue to bring this war to a successful[…]

Obama, West Point, Compliant Generals… and the Future

Friday, December 4th, 2009 under Domestic, Foreign Policy and International, Politics, War and Terrorism

(This is a long post, but I think it’s important enough that you read all of it… obviously;  otherwise I wouldn’t have posted it.)

The full consequence of the decision by President Obama to depart Afghanistan on a predetermined date seems not yet to have been understood fully.

This decision has ramifications far beyond Afghanistan, NATO, or the American Left and Right.

With this decision, President Obama is telling a compliant military that, should an unspoken (unwanted?) victory not have been reached by his pre-determined date of withdrawal, any future deaths in-theater – as well as all deaths and injuries to-date – will[…]

Doing “Liberalism” Badly?

Friday, December 4th, 2009 under Domestic, Politics

David Paul Kuhn has an interesting article here, entitled ‘Dems Doing Liberalism Badly.’

The Democrats have done “Liberalism” badly for one reason, and one reason only: They HATE it.

Classical “Liberalism” celebrates the Individual. It is about the Individual - his/her freedom, liberty, opportunity.

Current “Liberalism” or “Progressivism” is about stopping the Individual in the name of the Group. It is the ANTITHESIS of true Liberalism. It denies, distorts and prevents Liberalism.

A Liberal would be captivated by individual entrepreneurial achievement. A Liberal would be thrilled by a woman succeeding as Governor and Mother and Wife. A Liberal would be in favor of the ultimate triumph of the individual[…]
