So now we are going to put this warmonger on trial. He attacked America with WMD, killing thousands. HE and his terrorists created about 15,000 orphans in an instant.
Everyone – even Democrats – know this was an act of war. Democrats, however, don’t accept our going to war – they’re OK voting for the odd combat mission (which is NOT war; we are not AT war in Afghanistan, for example, we are applying martial law – the differences are huge – but Democrats don’t get that).
As always, Powerline gets to the point with the only salient question:
“Ask yourself this question: suppose that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial results in an acquittal or a hung jury. Would the Obama administration really let him go? If so, they are crazy. If not, why are they holding the trial?”
I guess these “Democrats,” unlike actual historical Liberals or Democrats such as FDR, Truman, JFK, etc., etc., would have put Hitler and Tojo on trial, too.
If you are wondering how we could have half our voting franchise unable to deal with the concept of war – i.e. killing the bad guys without worrying about feeling bad, without the inferiority complex that drives the silliness of worrying over the feelings of Europeans when we’re killing those who kill us, without the adolescent and ahistorical conceit that we can all really “get along” — and if you read this blog often… you already know the answer:
We’re a superpower with Great Power responsibilities. I know Democrats don’t DO responsibility. Their entire platform is based on a LACK of responsibility (unions – pay for not working, abortion, write lots of laws and then complain when people are sent to jail, etc., etc. ad nauseum), but is there a reason half of our country wants to just let others run the world? Others who are more tyrannical and corrupt (Russia), have no respect for human rights (China), or kill everyone that doesn’t fit their twisted idea of a “religion” (Islamists)?
Abdicating responsibility doesn’t mean that the right things get done. It means that might makes right. And when our might – ALWAYS used in defense of right – is abdicated, then the corrupt, the venal, the tyrannical, the cruel will rule the world until someone has the wisdom to apply power for good.
American power always has been applied for good. We have erred on occasion, but over time our might has left the world a far better and more peaceful place.
It fascinates that Democrats want the world to be less peaceful, governed more by the brutal, and to keep American power out of the game.
But that’s where we are….
