Here’s an interesting article on the non-participation of our Secretary of State as Obama threw our eastern European allies under the bus. It’s an interesting view, from a European, on Hillary’s being nowhere to be found in the largest Foreign Policy blunder of this new presidency she serves.
Question: Is this a move by Hillary to begin to distance herself from Obama for a 2012 run?
Obviously, by anyone’s estimation (other than the children at MoveOn and CodePink), the 2012 campaign will hinge on national security issues.
By 2012, Israel either will have been attacked by, or will itself have attacked, Iran – or both. Russia most likely will have gobbled-up Ukraine. DPRK (North Korea) will have detonated at least one more nuclear weapon. Pakistan will be a total basket case – and may have exchanged nukes with India, or let them fall into Al Qaeda’s hands through their intelligence service, the ISI, which basically created Al Qaeda to begin with. Taiwan by then may be making overtures to PRC (China) since it is past obvious that Obama and the Pelosi Democrats will not abide by ANY of our defense treaties, and Taiwan may decide it is better to be absorbed on its own terms by China – than eaten. And Mexico will be a failed state on our southern, still undefended, thousand-mile-border.
Our nuclear deterrent will be four years older by 2012, and everyone who understands nuclear weapons knows that the credibility of our arsenal – and of our defense umbrella with it – is shrinking daily. (Already a bipartisan commission has reported and testified that in order to keep our deterrent reliable, we need to A) test it, and B) continue to improve it. Here and here is additional information on the subject.)
Obama and the Pelosi democrats have not – and will not – test or improve the deterrent, leading more and more States to the conclusion that, indeed, our word cannot be counted on in matters of defense, as we have just proven to Poland and the Czech Republic – and, even if it could, our nuclear deterrent may not even work.
Look to Japan to build nukes – or all the precursors necessary to assemble them in a matter of hours – or days at most. Senior politicians recently have discussed an ability to do just that. Look to Saudi Arabia to enter a regional nuclear arms race once Iran has a nuke. (Remember, more Muslims have been killed by other Muslims than by all infidels in history, and Shia Persians hate – and are hated in return – by Sunni Arabs. It truly fascinates that the American government seems incapable of understanding this.)
And, of course, Chavez will have caused yet more trouble, some of which will make American voters nervous as he exports Castro-ism to other South American countries (and as Obama continues to take Chavez’ side against Democracy and Constitutional law, as he has in Honduras), and as Chavez places Russian weapons in South America.
Will the new young Democrat President have the desire or fortitude to go up against a replay of the Cuban Missile Crisis as it plays out in Venezuela in this soon-to-be-rerun of our last young Democrat president, JFK v Khrushchev?
Nor will he want to. For those who haven’t yet figured it out, Obama is on the side of the tyrants.
It’s a more dangerous world and, as always, Democrat policies are making it even more dangerous than it needs to be. Nothing new here.
Whether we will still be in Afghanistan is an open question, but the 2012 race will hinge on national security. And Hillary, may be indeed readying herself for this. Lieberman would make a good #2 on this ticket, which will appeal to a coalition of feminists, Independents, old-school Democrats, actual Liberals (as opposed to the Pelosi/MoveOn-types posing today as “Liberals” and “Progressives,” who are, in fact, statists and totalitarians).
And lots of GOPers who understand that the GOP has yet to recover from Bush 43 and the economic mess, but who believe in national security, also will join Hillary to overturn Obama. These voters know the GOP will not be able to win again yet… and understand the threat to national security by Obama.
The GOP has yet shrugged-off its idiocy in the eyes of the voters who believe they still are not to be trusted.
The Obama / Pelosi / Murtha democrats are proving themselves incapable of governing, or of anything but playing the race card like a bunch of children – from Jimmy Carter on up.
My guess? The campaign starts now…and Hillary may be getting ready to quit shortly, or perhaps just after the mid-terms, to start hammering Obama on National Defense.
2012 has begun, soon in earnest, for the DNC nomination.
