It is bluntly obvious that if one combines the worst of Hoover (protectionism), the worst of FDR (statism, corrupt voting and patronage) and the worst of a mal-educated voting franchise (electing to the presidency a person who never has held a job and who spent his entire life in the communist/socialist/statist orbit), you get Obama.
The guy is ALREADY a disaster. He will CONTINUE to be a disaster. His goal is undermining EVERYTHING that not only has made this country the destination for emigrants the world over for centuries, but to destroy the market capitalism that creates the wealth needed to pull people from poverty in the US (the stated goal of Democrats but a goal in which they patently disbelieve).
As a piece in Politico today notes, Obama is failing, and failing miserably. He is so bad he is pissing of the Left as well as the Right.
In short, Obama – and Pelosi, Frank, Rangel, Schumer, Reid, etc.,etc.) not only DO NOT CARE that they are destroying the freest, wealthiest society with the most upward progress for its citizens in the history of the world, IT IS NOW OBVIOUS THAT IT IS THEIR GOAL TO DO SO.
And 99% of our media – and half our voters think this is just fine, thank you very much.
Further – Friedman in the NYT yesterday wrote a column glorifying the Chinese autocracy as a good form of government. (Yet one more reason the Times sheds voters.) (Barone has a few good comments here.)
For those still in doubt that the Democrat Party is the party of totalitarianism, you aren’t paying attention. The examples are far, far too numerous to repeat here. Nothing the Democrats have done since the Boomers took over in 1968 has moved forward freedom or liberty or wealth or education; everything they have done, from overturning elections with one judge to taking over the private sector to unionizing education (giving us poorer education and higher dropout rates), and on and on, has been done with one – and only one – thought in mind: The totalitarian takeover of America by Democrats.
Further, Obama is totally abdicating the role of a superpower/Great Power in ensuring the safety of smaller, non-aggressive countries around the globe. There are those who think that this is just fine. These people are utterly incapable of understanding how the world actually works – and that it is not at all as they imagine in their adolescent illiberal fantasies.
I doubt we can await November 2010 to change these folks out, and I doubt that election will be free from the PA-style armed harassment — all over the country.
This guy and his minions must be stopped NOW.
The only realistic alternative, frankly, is to recognize that Red and Blue states are NEVER again going to get along – and dissolve the Union. MoveOn will certainly not spend lives and treasure to keep Red states in the Union. Red states can stop paying exorbitant, confiscatory taxes to support the insanity of Blue-State governments, and of the Feds.
Red states have the food production, the ports (TX), the infrastructure necessary to be self-sufficient. Blue states do not.
Dissolve the Union and let Blue States find out how the world really works without Red state monies to pay for their governance idiocies.
Aren’t you tired of Blue legislation lowering your standard of living – and that of your kids – to raise the standard of living for those who won’t work hard or try to improve themselves? I sure am.
Aren’t you tired of paying unionized teachers to make every generation less well-educated than their parents? I sure am.
Aren’t you tired of working half your life to pay for a government that has decided it is the People whose power is limited and the government that can do whatever it wants? I sure am.
Let’s dissolve the union and watch the Blues crumble under the policies they insist upon, their self-imposed financial idiocy, much as did Eastern Europe, which at least had the excuse that their financial idiocy was imposed on them by a statist, socialist superpower that also now is extinct – for the same reasons Blue states will become extinct (see: CA, NY), should they continue on their current paths.
