An OpEd in today’s Wall Street Journal explains why Obama can’t close the sale. Americans aren’t stupid, we know that Obama’s giveaway (over $650B in ten years) will have to be paid by the rest of us. We understand that neglecting the traditional alliances that have kept the peace between major powers since 1945 in order to conduct “knee-jerk” diplomacy with Russia, China, Iran is not the way to a safer world for Americans. We get that refusing to discuss nuclear power and more drilling, living instead in the fantasy world in which energy sources currently providing less than 1% of our power (wind and solar) will provide the “majority” of our power in 10 years, is just adolescent dreaming coupled with a complete lack of responsible decision-making.
Obama isn’t closing the sale because Americans, now that we are paying attention, aren’t buying his snake oil.
Here is an excellent summation of McCain’s veep pick, Governor Palin. Though the media has been campaigning for Obama by demanding choice, fresh voices, taking on corrupt Washington and insisting that a job funneling special interest money into a community (the job of a “Community Organizer”) is “experience,” now that the same tanked media is presented with a new choice, a fresh voice and face, one who actually has successfully taken on corruption – in her own party, no less, and who has years of executive experience in government, the media and Obama can’t stand it.
Interviewed at the convention last night, Newt had the best line of the campaign so far: “Gov. Palin has more executive experience than the entire Democrat ticket – and that was on her first day as Mayor; on the second day she had twice as much experience as the entire Democrat ticket.”
This is great stuff.
We really might be done with Baby Boomers in the White House!
Good for America. Good for the World.
