Sen Obama, Justice Thomas, Experience and Hubris
Monday, August 18th, 2008 under Domestic, PoliticsObama and McCain were queried the other night about the Supreme Court.
Sen Obama has, to be both blunt and precise, no experience doing anything other than accepting cash from interested parties to do their bidding in the corrupt Chicago polity.
In the event you have been wondering, that is the “job” of a “Community Organizer” in Chicago.
Justice Clarence Thomas has reached the pinnacle of his profession simply by being the best through position after position after position. From the MO Atty General’s Office to Asst Sec of Education to running the EEOC, to sitting on the second-highest court in the land,[…]

Thursday, August 7th, 2008 under Domestic, PoliticsWhat dimension am I in?
Obama is busily pandering to the American “working class” and his wife is out “helping” him with comments like this one on the tax rebate/stimulus checks (paid only went to those who paid less than $600 in income taxes).
“You’re getting $600 — what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill every month. The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go[…]
Continue ReadingObama as Scrooge? No Presents for his Children?
Thursday, August 7th, 2008 under Domestic, PoliticsI’m sorry. Maybe it’s just me.
Perhaps this behavior is something to be admired and I just am missing out.
Obama and his wife Michelle earn annually over $500,000. Cool and good for them.
On the campaign trail he talks about being green – but increasingly he is talking about the economy, about being thrifty.
All fine and good.
But – get this, from the Times (London) Aug 7, 2008:
“But recently Mr Obama has been talking more about thrift than trees. Instead of showing off his recycling skills, he explains that his children don’t receive Christmas or birthday presents.”
The Telegraph (UK) writes that the Obamas[…]
Continue ReadingObama’s Greenpeace Energy “Plan”
Thursday, August 7th, 2008 under Domestic, Politics, Taxes & EconomyIn the event you find yourself curious about Obama’s energy “plan”, he released it today.
Here is a Wall Street Journal video interview with a WSJ Economics writer who has read the “plan”.
Here is a WSJ editorial on Obama’s energy views.
Net here is that if you want to pay LOTS more taxes – and have the size and shape of the economy centrally-driven (worked so well for the USSR, right?), then you ought to be happy with his plan – which is right out of Greenpeace and the Sierra Club. Your basic socialist nonsense that has failed everywhere it’s been tried.
He[…]
Continue ReadingTeacher Unions
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 under Domestic, EducationFrom the Wall Street Journal today:
$2.3M fighting against school vouchers - even though even Washington DC Democrat politicans admit they work.
$20K to poll on a state constitutional convention.
$60K to oppose property-tax cuts.
“NEA finished 2007-08 with a surplus of nearly $5.9 million, which means the union will enter the 2008-09 school year with almost $20 million available to spend.”
Wouldn’t it be nice if the union that mis-educates America’s future spent its time and money on the classroom instead of partisan politics?
WSJ July 28: No, Sen Obama, vouchers are a successful, market-driven answer to the failures of the teacher unions of the[…]
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 under Baby Boomers, Domestic, PoliticsCan’t have a blog on the Worst Generation (Baby Boomers) without linking to this column by Thomas Sowell in which we are referred to as, “The Gratingest Generation.”
Good name. My cohorts certanly grate on me.
And why GenX and GenY are not passing laws outlawing our holding office, why they are supporting the last of the Boom (Obama) wanting to shove the same old tired selfish 1960s Baby Boomer politics and spending down their throats is beyond me.
After all, we Boomers won’t be paying for all the trouble we have caused, all the money and programs we have demanded, GenX andGenY will[…]
Continue ReadingApologies, Irony and a Thank You?
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 under Baby Boomers, Domestic, Foreign Policy and International, Miscellaneous, Politics, The Rest of the WorldJust when you thought Baby Boomers lacked any sense of irony, or that Liberals had no sense of humor, along comes Hillary with an Op-Ed in today’s WSJ hectoring the Bush administration for a lack of honesty.
Seriously. A Clinton lecturing on honesty.
Having lost the Democrat nomination, evidently Hill has decided to become a stand-up comedienne.
You can’t make this stuff up!
Separately the WSJ posts the following from The Hill:
“Congress is poised to approve a federal apology for slavery just weeks before voters consider electing the nation’s first black president.”
No word on whether
Continue Reading“Enemy” is NOT a Difficult Concept
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 under Foreign Policy and International, War and TerrorismWhat is it about the word “Enemy” that seems to boggle so many Baby Boomer minds?
It isn’t as though it is an ambiguous word. It isn’t. It means: Bad guys who want to kill you.
Dictionary.com defines it as follows:
“A person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent.”
We all understand that Democrats don’t understand the above, that everything bad in the world is America’s fault and we really don’t have any enemies other than the Dead White European Males who gave the world liberty, freedom and the rule of[…]
Continue ReadingStanford Economist on Obama Tax Plans
Monday, August 4th, 2008 under Domestic, Politics, Taxes & EconomyRegardless of where you are in the political arena you need to understand Obama’s stated tax plans.
Here in today’s Wall Street Journal, Michael J. Boskin, Professor of Economics @ Stanford, briefly describes and presents a table on the effect on rates, etc., of Obama’s plans.
You should be familiar with it prior to voting. Taxes and economics affect all of us - whether we believe in the Liberal or Conservative worldview.
Just a suggestion.

Monday, August 4th, 2008 under Baby Boomers, Domestic, Miscellaneous, PoliticsBelow are links to a conservative petition. (I am not posting this for you to sign it; that’s your call.)

Watch the second video of the two on the page.
The first is so much rah-rah from the GOP Congressmen staying in Friday when Pelosi shut down Congress to go on vacation in the midst of a Republican speech from the floor. She ordered the lights turned out, CSPAN’s cameras turned off and the sound system shut down. A Congressman re-started the sound system for a bit until she heard and shut it down again.
Why did she shut down Congress? As reported[…]
