The sister of a good friend recently underwent surgery in NY for a tumor in her spine. The “best” doctors managed to overlook some stuff that resulted in more pain and a lack of (their) awareness and acknowledgement of it and checked her out of the facility.
When these “top” doctors finally acknowledged their blunders, the woman was checked back in to the hospital and the pain brought under control.
During the entire affair one of the family’s concerns was, “What if this happened under a regime with National Health Care?”
You know – the kind championed by Teddy Kennedy – but which certainly wasn’t used by him with his brain cancer bout. Had he been a Canadian he, like most Canadians who can afford it, would have traveled to the US for medical care and necessary surgery rather than wait for and risk his life on National Health Care. The kind that Canadian and Swedish doctors are suing their governments to get out of.
Naturally, as in everything else, Democrats in America wait until an idea has failed elsewhere and then insist that we must implement that failed idea here; it’s “the future” don’t you know, or “for the children.” (Of course Dems don’t HAVE children – look at the demographics of the Blue States or (“liberal”) Europe – they’re dying off. Nothing Dems do is “for the children.”)
Speaking of which. Take a look at Kennedy’s health care and his yammering for National Health Care in the US – for the rest of us, but certainly not for him. Then take a look at how we are re-writing history to remove words and pictures that offend certain groups. Then recollect the USSR. Airbrushing Khrushchev out of photos. Different hospitals, hotels, stores for Party members.
If you liked that kind of system – and people like Kerry and Kennedy and the Obamas so obviously do – well, you will love what we Baby Boomers are leaving behind for our kids and theirs to clean-up: The most widely-reviled and discredited -ism of the 20th Century, yet another of those -isms that came out of the failed (but so admired by the Left) demi-continent Europe (like Communism, Fascism, Totalitarianism); the -ism responsible for the total lack of jobs and children in Europe, the lack of motivation to move ahead and the constant whine for the government to do and be everything for everyone: Socialism. And the inequality it ALWAYS has bred.
Reminds me of a few quotes by famous figures:
“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.” — Edward Abbey
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” — John F Kennedy (Think here about the continuous overturning of the will of millions of voters by one liberal judge.)
and of course:
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” — Thomas Jefferson
