Nonsensical Voters

Ys, I know it’s silly to discuss nonsensical voters for two reasons. 1: They don’t go looking for information which might shake their worldview; 2: it’s like yelling at customers and expecting them to still like you.

Nonetheless, yet another poll has found that voters hate the Congress and the actions of the incumbents.

This is becoming a tiring and repetitious claim.

The nonsensical part is that these respondents pretend that it’s that important to them, yet I would bet that NONE of them will vote against their incumbent based on this topic. If they did Congress would take the polls seriously. The second-most important issue in the country? Right. Well, if only 3% of 80M voters support the Congress OR the Pres on this issue, and if it’s second only to Iraq ( a lie to begin with because their pocketbook is more important to them than is Iraq), then I’ll expect, what, LESS THAN 2.4M votes TOTAL to be cast FOR ANY incumbent next Fall, right? 3% of 80M voters is 2.4M. If it’s the MOST important issue, then only 3% of voters would vote for ANY incumbent. As it is second-most, then the total will be less than 2.4M.

Yet since we KNOW that the Congress will be returned on the order of 97%, these respondents all are lying. The reps know that – and so they know it is safe to ignore the voters – that’s us.

Think about it.

75% of Americans are against Affirmative Action – yet year after year representatives and Senators are returned to Congress who vote for it.
73% of Americans are against same-sex marriage –  yet year after year congressmen are returned to office having supported same-sex marriage in order to get elected.
80%+ Americans are against late-term abortion.. yet they return these same Congressmen to office….

The voter thinks he or she can take a position one way in a poll, vote a different way, yet their stated wishes will be honored rather than the way they vote.

Thank unionized teachers.

About Alex Scipio

About Alex Scipio: Alex moved out of the People's Republic of California to the Free State of Arizona, finally tiring of the lack of the Bill of Rights, the overgrown idiocracy, and the catering to non-Americans & welfare recipients. He still wonders how America got from Truman, Eisenhower, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan to the Liberal and Conservative extremes so badly managing America today. And, yes, islam DOES need to be annihilated. And doing what he can to get folks away from the extremes of political life.

True, we are for the most part angry with our congressman but will vote for him/her regardless. My congressman is a Republican, one of the Rinos. There are numerous issues on which I disagree with him but being pragmatic I will vote for him again. I don’t like it but I have two choices: a Republican who will cast his vote for a Republican speaker or a very liberal Democrat who will be backing Nancy Pelosi. It all comes down to who has power in congress and I fear the dems are going to be even more powerful in ’09. Do I like voting for someone with whom I so vehemently disagree…nope. Unfortunately there was no primary, the place where we can duke it out amongst ourselves. An anti-incumbumt vote in my case will just make matters worse.

I’m sure that Democrats in democratic districts feel the same as I do, they’ll vote for their guy in spite of their differences.

The problem exists as a result of preposterous gerrymandering. If as a nation we could devise a computer model which would draw new congressional lines without regard for race, socio-economic status etc., we could have a chance. In blindly drawing districts we would soon find candidates fighting for the center and not kow-towing to crazies on the left and wimps on the right, to steal a phrase from Bernie Goldberg.
