Just think how great this is. No way Obama can win in November.
This will convince “Liberals” (of all people) that African Americans can’t win (wrong; ultra-liberals can’t win; race is irrelevant), and they won’t nominate another African American for years. Blacks will begin looking real hard at the party for which they have voted in a 90% bloc for decades – but which has done nothing positive for them. (The Democrats haven’t won a national election without at least 85% of the Black vote for over 40 years.)
I’m willing to bet that not only will the next serious African American presidential candidate be from the GOP, but that the first to win will be a Republican – as was Dr. Martin Luther King.
Remember – it’s been the Democrats who have been implementing the Bradley Effect, it’s been Democrat primaries and primary voters who have said, ‘you bet I’m voting Obama,’ and then voted the White guy or gal (though you’d be hard-pressed to find the media pointing out that the Bradley Effect was only occurring in Democrat primaries.)
Democrats will blame factions of their own party for losing an election that was a sure thing. The same factions that raise all the money (MoveOn, SF Elites, women) or whose vote is a guarantee (Blacks), will be angriest.
They should be.
African Americans will begin to look @ the GOP as the party truly representative of its desires (like border control, privatizing Social Security, stopping judicial rule (which just disenfrachises voters; Blacks have had enough of that, right?), socially fairly conservative, etc).
Women, madder-than-hell at the way HiIlary has been trashed, will trash the DNC (and the media?), as well… and may start voting with common sense rather than ideology (criminals behind bars rather than terrorizing their kids, teachers… teaching rather than paying dues to support a party against kids and education and success) .
The media, really responsible for this huge cock-up, will now be held in as low esteem by Demos as by the GOP. Deservedly so.
McCain will change the GOP, pulling it from the idiots on the Far Right back toward the Center. About time.
And the country can mature and move forward… just as the older Baby Boomers fall off the stage and start to just die.
Honestly I can’t find any downside to an Obama nomination and 1972- or 1984-style wipeout in November.
Good for the parties. Good for America.
Good for the World.
