Teacher Unions and the Destruction of American Education

Have you noticed the link between the takeover of the teaching profession by unions and the growth of idiocy as a major market force in America?  You should have.

The Day After Tomorrow is being shown in High Schools (like my son’s) to students studying government and geography.

Far and Away is shown as a primer to immigration.

Entire schools dismissed early monthly so the teachers can “learn” more – and inflict more damage with more fads on kids who thought they were getting an education.

Here’s my fav: My kids’ elementary school recently got back into the “California Distinguished Schools” recognition. (Given that CA ranks 47th in education achievement, this truly is being ‘Queen of the Pigs.’) What did the school do to recognize the students for their work? Gave them an afternoon off and sent the teachers to Disneyland! (My tax dollars @ work.)

Lesson plans consisting of feature films? Days off so teachers can go to Disneyland? This is the kind of hard work we need to move into a more technical future?

A leading candidate for President lacking basic understanding of the relation between tax rates and tax revenues, a relationship proved by JFK, Reagan, Bush 43 – and never disproved by anyone?

Working people vote for a party that is destroying the lives, values and futures of those same voters?

How did all this happen?

Baby Boomers reached their majority and began destroying all the things they didn’t like as kids, anything too hard, or requiring effort or responsibility.

OK, But how did that happen?

Well, not only did the Greatest Generation absolutely fail as parents, for lots of reasons discussed in lots of places, but an even bigger issue is this:

The Baby Boomer cohort was the first generation raised with unionized public school teachers, teacher strikes, teacher refusal to accept merit as the proper measurement of performance. The only measurement of performance at all meaningful.

Unionized teachers are destroying this country. They have done much bad for tens of millions of children and little, if any, good.

They must be stopped – by Constitutional Amendment if there is no other way.

Our future – literally – depends on it.

About Alex Scipio

About Alex Scipio: Alex moved out of the People's Republic of California to the Free State of Arizona, finally tiring of the lack of the Bill of Rights, the overgrown idiocracy, and the catering to non-Americans & welfare recipients. He still wonders how America got from Truman, Eisenhower, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan to the Liberal and Conservative extremes so badly managing America today. And, yes, islam DOES need to be annihilated. And doing what he can to get folks away from the extremes of political life.
