Listen to ‘Talent’?

Out here in the industry (Hollywood), we call those who make their living with their perceived talent (writers, directors, actors, etc.), “Talent,” regardless of how little they may display at any particular time.  (They are extraordinary babies for the most part – trust me.)

You may have noticed a dearth of Hollywood talent onstage thus far in the 2008 campaign season. With the exception of Oprah heralding the Second Coming to her True Believers, talent is ensuring none of the Right can tell them they were, um, wrong about their standard bearer.

Talent, of course, is never wrong – by definition, just ask them.

Once the megalomaniacs – sorry – megamillionaires deign to tell us for whom we must vote, the DNC will have awarded their nominee through some anti-democratic, dare we say evian-filled-room?’  process specifically designed to rewrite the wishes of the unwashed of their party following the disaster of 1968.

Democrats, you see, don’t believe in democracy, not even the watered-down form of our Republic (specifically designed not to be a democracy, BTW).

You know how Democrats are always yammering about how college must be affordable and accessible for everyone, regardless of brains, study habits or desire?

Even Democrats know that at least the appearance of education matters.

But then we have Talent.

Sean Penn bloviates about war and peace, Angelina Jolie on geopolitics, and Bono on the world economy. And then of course there is the darling of himself and the media, George Clooney. And not to be forgotten, Julia Roberts with her amazing ability to place words in alphabetical order.

Between these five we have a total of… ummm… two (2) years of post-high school education.

Bottom line? These folks are ignorant.

And people from a Secretary of the Treasury to the media (with their own issues of ill-education) and teachers unions (lowest SAT scores of any college group) tell us we must pay attention to these folks and their, umm… ideas.

So – if college matters to Democrats, and if these folks have basically zero college, it stands to reason that these folks ought not be listened to – not even by Democrats.

So – don’t listen to them.  They are ignorant.

Yet there is an industry of about $2B of magazines catering to the idiocies of talent on a weekly basis, and yes, it is increasingly difficult to sustain the belief – at least among educated people – that we are in a recession when we spend billions to vicariously share through these tabloids and magazines the drunken orgies and drug-induced idiocies of talent ( to say nothing of spending billions on video games).

But – sheesh! Paying attention to the geopolitical opinions of uneducated people making their living with words written by someone else in clothes designed by someone else, with expressions directed by someone else?

Educated societies ignore these people as the entertainers they are, bereft of any intelligence off-stage. Listening to them just magnifies the idiocy of unionized teachers.

Laugh at their antics on-stage, but listen to opinions of those who have enough education and experience to generate them.

About Alex Scipio

About Alex Scipio: Alex moved out of the People's Republic of California to the Free State of Arizona, finally tiring of the lack of the Bill of Rights, the overgrown idiocracy, and the catering to non-Americans & welfare recipients. He still wonders how America got from Truman, Eisenhower, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan to the Liberal and Conservative extremes so badly managing America today. And, yes, islam DOES need to be annihilated. And doing what he can to get folks away from the extremes of political life.
